ABOUT ME
ABOUT ME
Hi! My name is Ms. Angela, it’s nice to meet you! I’ve been playing the piano since I was 3 years old, and a lot has happened since then! Over the years, I’ve studied classical, jazz, and Latin music privately and through the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, UCLA, and San Francisco State University. Outside of piano, I’ve picked up the violin, kulintang, gamelan, guitar, bass… and my most recent musical endeavor has been playing the dobra with Batalá New York, an all-women, Black-led, Afro-Brazilian percussion ensemble.
I began my piano teaching journey 12 years ago, assisting my private teacher Alla Gladysheva in preparing her students to audition for summer intensive programs at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
Since then, I’ve picked up my own private students and taught at several music education institutions. I’ve most notably taught at Cornerstone Music Conservatory in Santa Monica, public and private schools in New York City, Keys to Success and the Noel Pointer Foundation in Brooklyn, assisted at the San Francisco Girls’ Chorus, and taught and trained other piano teachers at Elena Orduyan Piano School in the Bay Area.
My biggest goals as a piano teacher are to:
Spark a joy and curiosity for music
Help students gain confidence by reaching goals
Develop students’ skills and tools needed to learn music without a teacher
I have a music pedagogy library that I’ve tailored for over 200 private and group piano students, and I appreciate the different techniques I get to use with each student. I take pride in my teaching methodology and in knowing that I’ve made a positive impact on my students :)
